Our Programs
BayREN’s programs provide the Bay Area with rebates, funding, technical assistance, education and more. BayREN manages 10 new and existing programs spanning four sectors: residential, cross-cutting, commercial, and the public sector.
Residential
- The Single Family program serves hard-to-reach and underserved households to promote resilience, health, comfort, safety, energy affordability, and/or energy savings. BayREN Home+ rebates are no longer available as of October 18th. Please visit our news page for more information on this program sunset.
- The Bay Area Multifamily Building Enhancements (BAMBE) program seeks to remove obstacles for improving multifamily buildings, promoting energy savings, and enhancing resident well-being. It frequently assists owners and property managers of older housing stock with upgrades and technical support.
- The Green Labeling program oversees the Home Energy Score (HES) offering, providing residents with insights into their home’s efficiency potential prior to undertaking home upgrade projects. BayREN has been approved to launch HES statewide. The program also provides training and resources for real estate professionals to become green home experts.
Cross-Cutting
- The Water Upgrades Save program helps homeowners and renters install water and energy efficiency upgrades. The program is only available in participating jurisdictions. Visit waterupgradessave.org to see if the program is available in your area.
- The Climate Careers program will create job training opportunities in the green economy. Through an existing partnership with Rising Sun Center for Opportunity, BayREN has supported youth with training and employment opportunities since 2019.
- The Codes & Standards program supports local governments with developing, adopting, and implementing energy policies, including reach codes and the California Energy Code. Review the Local Government Resources page for program offerings.
Commercial
- The BayREN Business program supports local small, hard-to-reach businesses through energy efficiency projects to save energy and money.
- The BayREN Refrigerant Replacement (BRRR) program aims to replace environmentally harmful refrigerants with eco-friendlier options at low-to-no cost to food service sector businesses. Web page coming soon!
Public Sector
- The Integrated Energy Services (IES) program will assist local governments and special districts with finding and applying for funds to help improve their public buildings and will also provide a service to develop roadmaps for public building energy improvements.
- The Targeted Decarbonization Services (TDS) program will include a Decarbonization Showcase and will provide training and resources related to new equipment and technologies for decarbonizing public buildings.
